Overview
Once Rhombus Access Control has been fully configured, the connected doors can be viewed and accessed in the Rhombus Console. This article covers the general options and features on a door page and how to utilize them.
Navigation
Once a virtual door has been configured, it will show up in the Rhombus Console as a "Door." There are two ways to view and access a virtual door.
Note: To learn about how to configure a door, see our article on Controller Settings and Access Control Door Configuration.
Controller Settings Page
1. Navigate to "Settings," and click "Door Controllers."
2. Select a door controller.
3. Click "Go to Door."
Doors Page
1. Navigate to the "Doors" page and select a door.
Page Overview
On the main page, the door status, lock schedule, first-in requirements, first entry, and footage from associated cameras will be displayed.
The "Entries" tab lists all entries through this door for today and links to corresponding footage for each entry.
The "Access" tab lists all users who have access to this door and the grant that provides them access.
DR40 Audio Controls
When a DR40 has been associated with a virtual door, audio controls appear when hovering over the footage.
Note: The audio listening and recording setting must be enabled to utilize audio features on the DR40. See our article on the Audio Gateway Walkthrough for details on how to enable this setting.
Temporary Unlock
To trigger a temporary unlock, hover over the footage, and click the lock button in the upper left corner. This will initiate the unlock action and show an unlocked icon, and switch back to a lock icon once the door has relocked.
Events
The events tab shows all actions that have occurred at the door in chronological order, with the most recent action being at the top of the list.
You can:
- Filter by event type to narrow down a search.
- Click on the time of an event to be taken to that event in the timeline footage.
- Hover over the "Details" section to get a more granular look at that specific event's timeline.
- Click on an associated grant to view details or edit the grant.
Settings
The "Settings" tab allows you to set the functionality of various door features. Some features depend on additional hardware associated with the virtual door, like a DPI or REX.
- Wave to unlock - Use this setting to adjust the minimum estimated distance required for the Wave to Unlock feature. For more information, see our article on Wave to Unlock.
-
Remote unlock - Allows a door to be unlocked remotely through the Rhombus Key App if enabled.
- Geofencing can also be enabled from this menu if you'd like users to be within a certain specified physical distance from the door when using remote unlock. For more information, see our article on the Rhombus Key App Walkthrough.
- Entry unlock time - Determines how long a door is unlocked after successful authentication.
- Exit unlock time - If using Request to Exit (REX) and the REX is triggered, this setting determines how long the door will be unlocked. For more information on a REX sensor, review the Installing a Request-to-Exit Sensor on the DC20 article.
-
Relock - When a door is associated with a DPI, this setting will cause a door that is temporarily unlocked (from a credentialed unlock or a REX) to re-lock when it detects the door has been opened.
- By default, relock is set to 200 ms. Use "Advanced Mode" to change the value.
- Ajar Time - When a door is associated with a DPI, this setting can be used to set the number of seconds a door must remain open before it is considered ajar. For more information on DPIs, review the Installing a DPI sensor on the DC20 article.
- Force Open - When associated with a DPI, toggle on to enable Door Forced Open events in the timeline. These event types can also be configured in the notifications for users if they want to be notified. For information on setting notifications, review the User-Based Alert Notifications article.
Schedules and Exceptions
Door lock/unlock schedules, as well as exceptions to these schedules, can be set on the settings tab for the door. For more information on creating these, visit the Access Control Door Lock and Unlock Schedules article.
Any created schedules and exceptions will display on the settings tab.
Details
The "Details" tab provides specific information about the door setup, configuration location, and policy information.
Editing the hardware configuration will allow you to change any of the hardware associated with the virtual door.
Change the name, location, add or edit a policy, upload a photo for the door, or delete the door from this section.
Associated Camera(s) and Plans
To add additional footage to a virtual door, associate camera(s) through the dropdown at the bottom of the details section.
If facial recognition is wanted for the door, assign a camera that has facial recognition enabled in the "Associated Face Detection Camera" dropdown.
If a lockdown plan has been created for the location the door is assigned to, you can click the name of the plan to make edits.
