Overview
First-in rules are access control conditions that require a specific user or member of a specific user group to enter the designated location before granting access to any other users. By default, the conditions of the first-in rule will be reset every day at midnight. However, this reset time can be adjusted as needed.
Note: When waiting for First-In authentication, the Rhombus badge reader will spin a purple LED.
Set Up First-In Rules
1. Log in to the Rhombus console, open "Settings," and click "Door Access Conditions." |

2. Select "First-In Rules" along the top menu, then click "New First-In Rule" in the upper left corner. |

3. Assign a name to the rule, select the location where this rule will apply, and click next. |

4. Select the user or group of users who will need to enter the location first before access is granted to any other users, and click "Next." |

5. Select the door(s) to which this rule will apply. |

6. Toggle one or both of the switches on the left-hand side. The "Enable door unlock schedule" toggle requires the first-in conditions to be met before the normally scheduled door lock/unlock schedule is enabled. (e.g., If a door is set to be unlocked from 9 AM-5 PM, and someone from the First-In list does not arrive until 10 AM, the door will remain locked until that time.) The "Authentication requirement" toggle requires first-in conditions to be met before an access grant can provide access to other users. (e.g., If employees are normally able to badge into a door at any time, they will not be able to until someone from the First-In list badges in first.) By default, the conditions of the first-in rule will be reset every day at midnight. You can choose to add additional reset times in this step. Click "Next" when finished. |

7. Review the conditions of the First-In Rule and click "Add Rule" when finished. |
Console View
When a First-In Rule is active, indicators in the console and mobile app will delineate the conditions of the rule and whether those conditions have been met.
