Use Case
Groups are used as an intermediary to organize user access. These groups can then be assigned to access grants. When new users are created, they can be assigned to a group which will automatically provide them the access they need through the grant that the group is assigned to without needing to add individual access per user.
Example: A school has different levels of access for students and faculty. High level: Create a grant for these two different access levels and a group for each level. Individuals are assigned to the groups, and each group is assigned to the respective grant. If access needs to change, it is changed at the grant level and will auto-apply to everyone in the assigned group.
Create User Groups in the Rhombus Console
1. Navigate to "Settings," and click "Manage Users."
2. Select the "Groups" tab, and click "Add Group."
3. Name the group and provide an optional description. Then, select the names of the users you'd like to be in the group and click "Create."
Once a group has been created, it will appear on the "Groups" page. Each group will display the member count, what access grants are used by the group, and a description if one was added.
When you create an access grant, it can be assigned to a specific user or user group and see which group is assigned to which grant. To learn more about how to create Access Grants, see our article on Door Access Conditions.
