When to Use a Group
Groups are used as an intermediary to organize access for users. These groups can then be assigned to access grants. As new users get added, they can be easily assigned a "Group" which will then automatically allow them to have the access they need through the grant that that group is assigned to, without needing to add individual access for each user.
Example: A school has different levels of access, based on if someone is a student or faculty. High level, create a Grant for these two different access levels, and a Group for each level. Individuals are assigned to the Group, and the Group is assigned to the Grant. If access needs to change for any reason, it is changed at the Grant level and will then auto-apply to everyone in the assigned Group.
How to Create User Groups in the Rhombus Console
1. Select "Settings" in the top corner |
2. Click "Manage Users" |
3. Select the "Groups" tab |
4. Click "Add Group" |
5. Name the group, provide an optional description, select from the left side which users to add to the group, and click "Create". |
Once the group has been created, it will appear on the main screen for "Groups". Each group will show the member count, what grants use it, and a description if it was added.
Selecting the "X" by an existing group will allow you to delete that group.
Once you create an access grant you will be able to assign it to a specific user or user group and you will be able to see what group is assigned to which grant. To learn more about how to create Access Grants check Door Access Conditions.
