Console Configuration
Once the keypad reader has been wired and mounted, it must be configured in the Rhombus Console before use.
| 1. Navigate to "Settings," click "Door Controllers," and select the door controller where your keypad reader is installed. |
| 2. Click "Quick Add" below either the Wiegand port or RS-485 port your keypad reader is wired to. |
| 3. Once the keypad reader has been added to a port, it must be added to the virtual door to unlock the relay when a valid PIN is entered. |
Create Unique PIN Credentials
Every user can have a unique PIN credential to access a door with a keypad reader wired to it. These PINs can have start and end dates and can be up to 16 digits long.
Note: When entering a unique PIN on the Wavelynx Keypad Reader, you must press the "#" key after the PIN to submit the entry.
| 1. Navigate to "Settings," and click "Access Control Credentials." |
| 2. Click "Credential Actions," then "Add Credential" in the upper left corner. |
3. In the pop-up window, select a user from the drop-down menu, choose "Keypad PIN" under credential type, choose how PIN length, and create a unique PIN or click the "Auto-Generate" button. If you'd like the PIN to be sent to the selected user via email, toggle the "Deliver via email" switch, and the associated email address will populate beside the toggle. Note: Each PIN must be unique. Attempting to use the same PIN more than once will produce an error. |
| 4. To set a start or end date for the credential, toggle the corresponding switch and select the desired date(s) and time(s). Click "Add" when finished. |
Use a Card with the Keypad Reader
The Wavelynx Keypad Reader can also be used with card credentials to unlock a door.
When using a Rhombus Secure Card or a Standard NFC Card, the "Standard NFC Card" option must be selected when creating the card credential, and the keypad reader must be wired to an RS-485 port on the DC20.
When using a Wiegand Card, the "Wiegand Card" option must be selected when creating the card credential, and the keypad reader must be wired to a Wiegand port on the DC20.
For more information on creating card credentials, see our article on Registering a Key Card.
Disable Alarm Monitoring
Keypad readers can be set up for use in conjunction with alarm monitoring. To disarm with a keypad, users must have an assigned PIN credential, and their grant schedule must align with the time they are trying to disarm.
