Overview
Rhombus Custom Events provide insight into niche events that occur within your Rhombus Console. They allow you to create custom parameters for triggering alerts, creating seekpoints, and generating reports. This article covers how to create a custom event and provides related info.
Note: This feature is currently in beta. If you would like to participate in the beta program, submit a feedback request.
Setup
1. Log in to the Rhombus Console, navigate to "Settings," and click "Custom Events."
2. Click "Add Event" in the upper left corner.
3. Enter a name for the custom event, choose how the LLM should answer your prompt, and set a prompt for the system to answer. The more specific your prompt is, the better the result will be.
- "%" will answer your prompt in the form of a percentage.
- Ex: "There are 4 available EV parking spots in the parking lot. Tell me what percentage of EV spots are being used in the image."
- "#" will answer your prompt with a count.
- Ex: "How many people are in the image? Do not count any reflective surfaces like mirrors or glass."
- "T/F" will answer your prompt in a true or false format.
- Ex: "Is anyone actively using their phone? Do not include people simply holding their phone, they must be actively using it."
4. Set a frequency for the prompt, and determine the hours during which the system will check for the prompt. This setting will answer your prompt at specific time intervals or when certain events occur, depending on your selection.
5. Choose whether the results of this custom event will generate a report and generate seekpoints on the camera's timeline which can trigger actions, or not.
6. Determine what result will generate an event, and click "Next."
- For percentage prompts, set the percentage value that will trigger event creation, and determine whether a greater or lesser value will trigger the creation.
- For count prompts, set the count value that will trigger event creation and determine whether a greater or lesser value will trigger the creation.
- For true/false prompts, set whether a true or false result will trigger the creation.
7. Choose the cameras to which the custom event will apply, and click "Next."
8. If desired, set a highlighted region on the device(s) in which the prompt will be run and analyzed. If unaltered, the prompt will be run on the entire camera's FoV.
9. To verify your prompt will work as desired, click "Test Prompt." Click "Next" when finished.
10. Set up rule triggers and/or alert notifications for the custom event, and click "Done."
Best Practices
Here are a few recommendations to ensure your custom event performs to the best of its ability:
- Be specific and detailed in your prompts. Clarity improves accuracy.
- Use the region to "focus" the custom event. Limiting the field of view to the relevant area can reduce noise and improve results.
- Iterate and use the “test prompt” functionality to refine custom events until the desired accuracy is achieved.
Region Setup Panel
When viewing a camera in the Rhombus Console, the "Region Setup" panel will show any active custom event triggers under the analytics tab. On this page, the selected region for a custom event can be edited by selecting the custom event and moving the points of the region on the camera FoV.
Event Results
Once a custom event is set up, it can trigger alerts, create seek points on the camera's timeline, and generate reports.
Alerts
If your custom event is set to trigger alerts, once its conditions are met, the alert can be found under the bell icon on the Rhombus Console home page. These alerts will be named based on the custom event's met conditions, and will show the custom event which triggered the alert. To learn about how to receive notifications for these alerts, see our article on User-Based Alert Notifications.
Timeline Seek Points
Triggered custom events will show on the camera timeline as a light teal seek point.
Reports
Generated reports can be found on the Rhombus Insights page.
1. Log in to the Rhombus Console, navigate to "Logs & Reports," and click "Insights."
2. To find a specific custom event report, click the "Filter Report Types" dropdown menu and select a custom event from the list.
3. To view associated footage from custom event reports, click on a data point in the report. Select an event on the timeline to see associated true/false footage in a true/false custom event. You can also click the "Show Prompt" button to view the parameters of the custom event prompt.
Self-Service Mode
If you already have an existing contract with an LLM provider, you may choose to opt-in to the Self-Service mode of Rhombus Custom Events. Self-Service mode allows you to choose a specific LLM to generate Custom Events. Usage and billing for Self-Service mode will be handled through your provider; Rhombus will be completely hands-off. Contact your Rhombus Sales Engineer to opt-in to Self-Service mode.
Note: Self-Service mode should only be used if you have the technical expertise and time to fully manage your Custom Events. Rhombus will be unable to assist with Custom Event management if you opt in to Self-Service mode.
1. Once your organization is opted-in to Self-Service mode, log in to the Rhombus Console, navigate to "Settings," and click "Integrations & Developer Resources."
2. Click "LLM" in the "All Integrations" tab.
3. Choose your preferred LLM from the dropdown menu on this page, provide your API Token, and select your model of choice.
Join the Beta
If you're interested in joining the beta program, submit a feedback request in the Rhombus Console. Once we receive your request, we'll reach out to help you get started with a free limited trial of Custom Events.
