Sharing a Camera Livestream – Rhombus Support

If you'd like to share a Livestream of a Rhombus camera, please follow these steps:

Share Livestream via Console

Many customers often want to share a camera feed on their website, with customers, or someone else without giving access to their account. A camera livestream can be shared as a link for those who do not have a console account. This Shared Stream is created on the timeline of the device's page, similar to Creating a Saved Clip.

There are two methods you can use to create this link:

Single Camera Shared Stream

Create a New Stream in the Timeline

1. Navigate to the "Devices Page" and select the camera that you wish to share a stream for.

2. Click the Scissor Box icon underneath the timeline.

3. Click the "Shared Stream" option.

4. Fill in the desired options provided. Name the stream. Type of stream: Live Stream with optional past footage - This option will allow you to share all past footage, some past footage until a certain time, or no past footage at all. Live Stream shown at scheduled times, (no past footage) Define the Start and End of the stream Include Audio - This option will allow for shared audio of an A100 associated with the camera. Password - This will allow for the use of a defined password for the shared stream. We recommend putting passwords on all shared streams. Expiration - The shared stream can have an expiration tied to a specific date and time.
5. Click the "Create" button.
6. Perform one of the provided actions and then "X" out of the form. If you want to create a second or a different Shared Stream for the same device, click "Create" again. The stream will be saved for future use, even after you "X" out of the page. Jump to the Create or Use a Stream in the Camera Settings section to learn how to pull up previously created Shared Streams.

Create or Use a Stream in the Camera Settings

Once a Shared Stream has been created, this method can be used to pull up those created Streams for use, or to also create a new Shared Stream.

1. Navigate to the "Devices Page" and select the camera that you wish to share a stream for.

2. Scroll down to the "Camera Details and Settings" section and select "Shared Streams".

3. Here, you can view and use any previously created "Shared Streams," or you can click "Create" and go through the process outlined in Steps 4-6 of the Create a New Stream in the Timeline section.

4. After completing Steps 4-6 in the Create a New Stream in the Timeline section, you will need to "X" out of the window and re-click into the "Shared Streams" link to see the newly created stream.

5. If at any time you would like to revoke access to a stream, you can click the "Delete Stream" Action.

Multi-Camera Shared Stream

If you want to share a live stream for multiple cameras at once, this can be done using a Video Wall. Please reference the Managing Video Walls article for a walk-through on how to create and share a video wall.

Share Livestream via App

Open the Rhombus App and navigate to the device you wish to create a stream for.
Click the "Settings" button at the bottom-middle of the screen.
Click the "Shared Streams" link and select "Create New".
Fill in the requested fields and click "Save".

Embedding a Livestream

After creating the shared stream you have an option to 'Copy Embed Code' this would you the ability to take the iframe inline code and customize it to any web page.

Additional URL Parameters

We have enabled the use of parameters that can be in either the shared stream URL or the embedded iframe inline code. All can either be true/false depending on your intended implementation.

disableautoplay - Enable or disable the video to autoplay upon loading

hideevents - Enable or disable the timeline and related events to show

realtime - Enable or disable real time streaming of video by default

showheader - Enable or disable the zoom & streaming buttons at the top of the video

showfooter - Enable or disable the camera name and timestamp at the bottom of the video

You will follow the structure of https://url/?variable=true&variable=false&variable=true

Example for Stream URL - Note: The parameters are at the end of the stream URL
