Wiring Guide for Readers using Different Access Grants
If you intend to use different access grants for readers connected to the same door, each reader will need to be associated with a separate relay port, which then gets wired back into the shared locking hardware.
Relays cannot be shared with the same virtual door, so two virtual doors will need to be created in the Rhombus console, with the Access Grants assigned to each virtual door as needed.
Note: This setup requires an external power supply, such as an Altronix box.

Wiring Guide for Readers using the Same Access Grants
The configuration for ingress/egress badge readers that are using the same access credential grants can be configured in the console under the same virtual door. This configuration requires the use of only one relay for the locking hardware.

Use Cases
Entry and Exit Readers
For use cases where separate access grants and permissions need to be used for the entry badge reader versus the exit badge reader, refer to the Wiring Guide for Readers using Different Access Grants section.
The wiring from the relays needs to be fed into an Altronix box or something similar, where the single output can be run to the locking hardware. The events will be logged separately in the access control events logs.
Double Doors
Double doors can use either a single locking mechanism or two, depending on the setup.
For double doors, you have two choices for maglocks:
- Two separate locks joined together, each with its own independent wiring.
- One lock with a single set of wiring.
If you choose to use only one lock, refer to the wiring instructions in the Wiring Guide for Readers using the Same Access Grants.
Rhombus Console Setup
When sharing a lock, you can configure multiple readers for the same door to represent your DC20 wiring accordingly in the Rhombus Console.
1. Navigate to "Settings," select "Door Controllers," and click on the DC20 to which you will be configuring the readers.
2. Edit an existing door or create a new one. For more information, see the Controller Settings and Access Control Door Configuration article.
3. When configuring the reader ports, select both readers that will be used for this door.
4. Once the virtual door is completed with both readers associated, click "Finish."
