Prerequisites
Before you can register an A100, you will need:
- Activated Rhombus Console Account
- Mobile Phone with Rhombus App installed (iOS or Android)
- A100 connected to network and power
Connecting the A100
The A100 needs power and a network connection to register. The easiest method to achieve this is to use a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) device, but a solar + cellular setup is also possible for remote deployments.
Below are notes about connecting the A100:t
- The gateway is only to be connected to PoE networks without routing to outside plants.
- If powered by a power adapter, the adapter must be properly grounded.
- Contact Rhombus' certified dealers for compatible power adapters.
Mounting Guide
Below are the steps for mounting the A100 on a wall or ceiling:
- Do not open the unit to mount; use mounting screws directly through the three exposed mounting holes.
- Use included mount template to drill holes for screws and cable.
- Use the included self-tapping screws (diameter TP4, head dia 7mm, and thread length 25mm).
- Use the included anchors when mounting to softer materials.
Note: Ensure the A100 is not mounted near any wireless routers as their signals can interfere with the microphones in an A100.
Universal Drop Ceiling Mount
The universal drop ceiling mount allows all Rhombus dome/fisheye cameras (except for the R360S*) to be mounted to drop ceiling T-Bar grids. The included T-Bar clip allows for easy mounting to the standard 15/16" grid as well as the 9/16" grid. This section covers how to properly install the universal drop ceiling mount.
1. Locate the 1/4"-20 nut in the center tabs.
2. While holding the nut in place, thread the T-Bar clip through the nut until tight.
3. Open the T-Bar clip all the way.
Note: Depending on ceiling accessiblity, the next two steps can be performed in reverse order.
4. Mount the universal ceiling mount to the T-Bar by twisting the clip onto the T-Bar and closing the clip.
5. Remove the camera dome to access the camera mounting holes. Using the screws included with the camera, screw the mounting screws into the holes corresponding to the camera mounting pattern found in table below.
| Mounting Pattern | Compatible Cameras |
A |
R100/R120/R200 (also compatible with A100) |
B |
R400 |
C |
R230/R360 |
D |
R170 |
6. Optionally, an additional screw can be inserted into the recessed hole to reduce tampering with the camera.
Note: Some trimming may be required to ensure ceiling tiles fit flush over the T-Bar clip when using a 9/16" T-Bar.
Registration Steps
1. Log in to the Rhombus Mobile App (for iOS or Android).
2. Tap "Menu" in the bottom right corner, and select "Register Devices."
3. Select "Register via Bluetooth."
4. Select the location where the A100 will be registered.
5. Choose the Audio Gateway you want to register from the list of nearby devices, then tap "Next."
Note: If you do not see your Audio Gateway, it is either already registered or is not connected properly to power and/or the internet.
6. Ensure the "Allow Audio Listening & Recording" button is enabled, and tap "Next."
7. Tap "Next" on the "Internet Connection" page.
8. To assign IP's automatically via DHCP, tap "Next." If assigning IP's manually, toggle off the DHCP switch, and tap "Next."
9. Once completed, you will be taken to a loading page to wait for the registration to complete.
10. Once the registration is complete, tap the "X" in the upper right corner to complete the registration.
Note: This setup assumes the audio gateway is connected to PoE through an ethernet cable. The Audio Gateway is a standalone, BLE, two-way audio device powered by PoE, so it can also serve as a gateway to our BLE sensors.
