Overview
The E50 Environmental Sensor is equipped with a microphone that can detect audio in its given environment. This microphone does not perpetually record and only utilizes audio clips for processing purposes. Audio files are immediately overwritten once processing is complete. This article covers how to create an alert policy for loud sounds detected by an E50.
Prerequisites
- Rhombus Console Account
- E50 with an assigned Enterprise License
- Mic enabled on E50 Device Settings & Details
- Enable Audio AI Analytics across your organization. This setting can be found in the main "Account Settings" page.
- Audio AI Analytics enabled as an Enterprise Feature
Console Setup
1. Log in to the Rhombus Console, navigate to "Settings," and click "Manage" below "Policies."
2. Select the "Environmental Sensors" tab, and click "Add Policy."
3. Name the alert policy and, if desired, set a description for it. Click "Confirm."
4. Click the "Loud Sound Alerts" option, and select a pre-existing schedule or create a new schedule in the pop-up window. Click "Add" to add the schedule to the alert policy.
5. Set the LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) value. Once set, any detected sound louder than this value will trigger the loud sound alerts. Click "Save" in the upper right corner.
Note: Setting the LUFS value will require adjustments to find the preferred value for the E50's environment.
6. Click the "Assigned Sensors" tab at the top of the screen, and click "Add Device."
7. Select the E50 for which you wish to assign this policy, and click "Update."
8. Click "Save" when finished.
Note: A loud sound alert policy can also have different LUFS values tied to different schedules. For example, you can set quiet alerts for weekends and loud alerts for weekdays.
Timeline Events
Once the E50 alert policy has been created, loud sound events will generate on an E50's timeline.
Note: With a Loud Sound alert policy, all generated Loud Sound alerts will appear in the org-wide "Alerts" tab. To receive personal alerts for any loud sound event, see our article on User-Based Alert Notifications.
