Note: This article assumes that you have purchased Alarm Monitoring with Rhombus and have an alarm pad present at your organization. The Alarm Pad app is currently only available on iPad.
Installing & Registering Alarm Pad
Mounting
The first step in setting up the alarm pad is mounting it in your facility. At Rhombus, we use the Vidabox VESA Wall Mount.
Note: The Alarm Pad app does not support landscape mode. Be sure to install the iPad and mount in a vertical (portrait) orientation.
The mounting instructions are as follows:
- Drill the mounting plate into the wall
- Place iPad into mounting casing
- Attach case to mounting plate
Registering
1. Search "Rhombus Alarm Pad" in the app store and download the app.
2. Log in to the Rhombus Console on your web browser, navigate to the "Devices" tab, and click "Alarm Pads" at the top of the screen.
3. Click "Register Device" in the upper-left corner.
4. Enter a name for your alarm pad, enter the unique token generated on the previously downloaded Alarm Pad app, assign the location where the alarm pad will be located, and click "Submit" in the bottom right corner.
Arm the Site
In the Rhombus Console, you can set default start and end times for active monitoring. Active monitoring can also be enabled manually by clicking the "Start Now" button on the Alarm Pad.
Temporarily Pause Monitoring
By entering the correct pin, Alarm Monitoring will be temporarily suspended to prevent accidentally triggering a threat report to the monitoring company. "X hours" can be tapped and will provide an option to choose a specific amount of time the monitoring can be paused (e.g. 30min, 1 hour, etc.).
Reactivate Monitoring
To rearm the system, enter the correct pin and the Alarm Monitoring will be active until the following day.
Dismissing an Alert
When an alert/threat is generated, it can be dismissed and cleared by entering the correct pin on the Alarm Pad. The alarm monitoring service will be informed to not pursue further action. However, if emergency services have already been called before dismissing an alert/ threat, local PD may ignore the dismissal and come onsite to do a wellness check.
