The quickest way to mount sensors is with the included adhesive, which will attach firmly to most smooth surfaces. This can also be used for outdoor installations in cases with additional rain coverage. However, in outdoor installations where the sensors may get wet, or for installations requiring screw attachment, please use the weather shield and bracket accessories as shown below.
Sensor Screw Mount and Weather Shield
|1. Place the sensor bracket oriented the same as the sensor, with side notches pointing in the same direction, and the Rhombus logo oriented the same way. In some installations (D1 on the left and magnet on the right), the Rhombus logo will be upside down.
|2. Attach the sensor bracket to the surface with included adhesive or included screws, using included anchors if necessary in the material (such as drywall).
|3. Slide the weather shield over the top of the sensor. Even if the Rhombus logo on the sensor is upside down, the weather shield will slide downward from the top so that its logo is right-side up.
|4. The weather shield MUST be used if the bracket is used. The sensor will not be fully held on the bracket without the weather shield in place.
Magnet Screw Mount
|1. To mount the magnet using screws, first open the magnet housing by twisting a flat-head screwdriver in the end notch.
|2. Attach the rear magnet housing to the surface using included screws, using included anchors if necessary in the material (such as drywall).
|3. Replace the magnet inside the housing, and snap the front housing onto the rear housing.
Mounting M1 Sensors
The M1 sensor is battery-powered. It communicates via Bluetooth just like the other sensors do. It can be wall-mounted with the included adhesive or screws. For softer wall materials, anchors are recommended.
It should be mounted so that people move across its 90-degree horizontal field of view.
Contact Door Sensor Setup
To use the door with the contact sensor, simply mount the sensor and contact piece facing each other such that the two notches are lined up. Using the included double-stick tape is generally the easiest mounting option indoors. The sensor can be used outdoors if it is protected from rain. There is an upcoming mount that enables mounting with screws, and a weather cover to enable use in rain.
IMPORTANT: The contact piece must be within .75 inches of the sensor to properly detect when the door is closed.
Roll-up Door Setup
The Rhombus door sensors have a built-in accelerometer so that they can be used easily with roll-up doors. For this setup, place the sensor on the roll-up door with the notch facing down towards the ground when the door is closed, but facing sideways or at an angle when the door is open. Please keep in mind that the magnet is not needed for this setup and should be excluded from the mounting process if this is the intended use.
