If you maintain a locked down network, you'll need to configure your firewall with the following rules for the cameras to function properly.
Outbound firewall rules:
- HTTPS/443
- UDP/53 – DNS
- NTP/123 – NTP Time Sync
Furthermore, if accessing cameras over a LAN, you need to ensure you have routes setup to the camera local subnets from the subnets where they need to be viewed on the LAN.
Intranet firewall rules/Routes:
TCP/8000 for LAN subnets 192.168.0.0/16, 172.16.0.0/12, 10.0.0.0/8
We also suggest whitelisting the following URL's if your firewall is really restrictive about the network traffic.
- *.rhombussystems.com
- *.lan.rhombussystems.com
- *.dash.rhombussystems.com
If you're using a firewall, you cannot man-in-the-middle (MITM) Rhombus network traffic as the cameras will detect this activity and stop the connection.
