If you maintain a locked down network, you'll need to ensure the following ports are available and open in your firewall for the cameras to function properly.
- UDP/53 – DNS
- NTP/123 – NTP Time Sync
- TCP/8000 ONLY on LAN [192.168.0.0/16, 172.16.0.0/12, 10.0.0.0/8]
Furthermore, if accessing cameras over a LAN, you need to ensure you have routes setup to the camera local subnets from the subnets where they need to be viewed on the LAN.
We also suggest whitelisting the following URL's if your firewall is really restrictive about the network traffic.
If you're using a firewall, you cannot man-in-the-middle (MITM) Rhombus network traffic as the cameras will detect this activity and stop the connection.
