We take a look at the Region Search feature, which can be quite powerful during an investigation. Through this feature, you can look through video footage for a specific events that occurred in a specific area of the camera view.
For example, maybe a laptop was stolen from a desk and you want to see just when that laptop was stolen instead of tediously going through all the video. That's where Region Search can help.
To use the Region Search feature, navigate to the camera where you want to perform the search and click on the Search icon.
You can also select specific motion events you are search for, i.e. Human Movement, Unidentified Face, etc. These events will be selectable in the 'Show events' bar under the timeline.
Once you enter this feature, you'll see the option select the time range you can search for the event you want. There are multiple option in the top including time range for specific times, between two date, or last X days.
Once you have what you want, click 'Apply' and a grid will appear on the camera player. Click and drag the grid to search for that specific area.
Once you let go and the area is selected, you'll see thumbnails of the events that were index for that region with color codes to indicate which kind of motion events were found.
At any point, you can exit the search by clicking "Exit Search" or search again by clicking "Exit Search".
